Pharmacy

The pharmacy at Augusta Victoria Hospital is committed to providing the highest level of care through offering comprehensive, safe, and efficient pharmaceutical care to all patients. Our team of trained pharmacists review all types of drug prescriptions, prepare and dispense accurate dosage of medications, provide information about the medicine, and offer clinical assistance whenever needed.

Chemotherapy and biological treatments are prepared in-house, according to stringent, sterile procedures that meet international standards. Our pharmacists provide medical staff with information on the administration of these medications, including special care instructions for intravenous medications.

In addition to preparing and reviewing all types of drug prescriptions, our pharmacy works on palliative therapy for patients who will be taking medications at home to relief them from pain at end of life stage. Our teams ensure that patients’ companions have adequate instructions on how to administer such medications.

Lastly, our pharmacy manages protocols for the administration of antibiotics, oncology medications, and other medications that require extra caution (High Alert Medications), as well as manage Multi-Dose Vials to ensure proper storage and handling.

AVH Clinical pharmacists also provide services to inpatients and some outpatients, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications through the review of prescriptions, daily clinical discussions with the medical team, and the development of comprehensive treatment care plans.
